Quick Tips
Local Rule 16.3 governs mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution in this district
CM/ECF now permits documents to include hyperlinks with cross-document references and legal citations.
Documents that include hyperlinks must also include a standard citation to the hyperlinked material. The hyperlink is a convenience for accessing authority, not a citation replacement.
The CM/ECF application will not verify the validity of URLs included as hyperlinks within documents filed in CM/ECF. To preserve the record, counsel are directed to include “screen shots” or other evidence of the URL as it existed at the time of its use.
Hyperlink functionality has been tested and works properly with Microsoft Word 2002 or higher. Hyperlinks added to documents created in other word processing programs may not function properly once the documents are converted to PDF format. The judiciary does not endorse a particular web site or commercial legal research source. The court does not exercise any responsibility over the content at its destination.
