The U.S. Sentencing Commission, U.S. District Courts, Districts of Western Missouri and Kansas, and the Federal Bar Association are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2018 Heart of America Sentencing Guidelines Conference, which will be held on April 26-27, 2018, at the Robert J. Dole U.S. Courthouse, 500 State Avenue, in Kansas City, Kansas. Due to increased interest, the conference also will be simulcast to the U.S. Courthouses in Topeka, Kansas; Wichita, Kansas; Jefferson City, Missouri and Springfield, Missouri.
This conference will offer insights by experts from the U.S. Sentencing Commission, U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, Federal Public Defenders’ Offices, Law Professors and the Bureau of Prisons. Day One will provide sessions focused on the Basic Concepts of Sentencing Guidelines in a half-day format. Day Two will feature Advanced Sentencing Guidelines Training, including a keynote presentation by Hon. Richard G. Kopf and Georgetown law professor Shon Hopwood.
The conference’s target audience includes the members of the federal bars of Western District of Missouri and the District of Kansas, as well as federal judges.
The Kansas CLE Commission and Missouri CLE Commission have approved up to 3.0 hours of CLE credit for Day One and up to 7.0 hours of CLE credit for Day Two in Kansas City. Credit for simulcasts is pending.
