Judge Angel D. Mitchell Selected as United States Magistrate Judge in Topeka, Kansas


The United States District Court for the District of Kansas announces the selection of Angel D. Mitchell as the next United States Magistrate Judge in Topeka, Kansas, effective March 25, 2019. Judge Mitchell received a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Baker University School of Professional & Graduate Studies in 1996 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2000. Following graduation, Judge Mitchell was an associate at Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin, LLP. Judge Mitchell served as a law clerk to the Honorable James P. O’Hara at the United States District Court for the District of Kansas from 2001 – 2003. She then served as a law clerk to the Honorable John W. Lungstrum from 2003-2008. In 2008, Judge Mitchell joined the Shook Hardy & Bacon law firm where she has most recently been a Partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation and Appellate groups. Judge Mitchell succeeds the Honorable K. Gary Sebelius who will retire on March 24, 2019, after 16 years of service to the District of Kansas.
