The District of Kansas judges and staff express our sincere condolences for the passing of Senator Robert J. Dole. During his tenure as a Kansas Senator, his influence was vast and forever changed the District of Kansas. Not only did he play an instrumental role in the appointment of several federal judges in our court, but he was also integral to securing federal funding for the construction of the Kansas City Courthouse. Senator Dole and his staff shepherded our court through the entire process and without him it may have never come to fruition. The Kansas City Courthouse was appropriately dedicated to Senator Dole in May 1998. We are grateful for his leadership, his integrity, his love of Kansas, and his dedication to public service.
