ADR Experience

Experience: In 2002, I became an adjunct professor at Newman University, where I currently office, and teach mediation in the School of Applied Social Sciences. I began training mediators in 1999 through the Wichita Bar Association and Mediation Center of Wichita. I was put on the domestic mediation list in 1995 and have done over 400 mediations, mostly in domestic, but also small claims, real estate, probate and civil, both state and federal, personal injury and wrongful termaination, and have had corporate clientelle. I began in small claims court and volunteered there for a year. I was trained in Wichita in 1994 by the Mediation Center of Wichita. My first mediation in 1992 during law school was with the Hon. John Wagner in a sexual harrassment case.

Legal Experience

Experience: I have been a licensed attorney since 1993. I began as Vice President of HR at Sherwood Construction Company in Wichita, KS. I handled all aspects of employment practices, benefits and safety at a large multi-state corporation. In 1998 I went into practice as a sole practioner focusing only on ADR in family law. In 1999, I took my first adversarial case and had a smattering until 2004 when I began focuing on Collaborative Family Law. In 2002, I expanded my ADR focus to include all areas of the law and I became an adjunct professor at Newman University in the School of Applied Social Sciences, teaching mediation at a graduate level to Social Work Students and community members.

Fee Structure

Rate: As of 1-1-05, I charge $150 per hour for mediation split equally between the parties unless an alternate agreement is reached. My sliding scale is $100 per hour split between the parties. I have a day rate of $1000 and half day of $500, plus travel and expenses.
