Clerk’s Office Hours: The Kansas City Kansas federal court clerk’s office is open to the public from 9:00-12:00 and 12:30-4:00 Monday through Friday except for federal holidays.  You must have a government issued photo ID to enter the building.  The public may not enter with cell phones, cameras, or electronic devices of any type.  The Kansas City courthouse is located at 500 State Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66101 – the clerk’s office is room 259.

Entrance
The main public entrance is on State Avenue on the south side of the building.   Those using the handicap/accessible parking on the Nebraska Ave, north side of the building, may use the north entrance.

Tips for your visit

  • You must show a photo ID to enter the courthouse. You must pass through courthouse security. 

  • Lawyers, including pro hac vice attorneys, who present photo identification and a current bar registration card from this or any other federal or state court may bring in electronic communication devices (see Local Rule 83.2.4). 

  • Photography or audio/video recordings of court proceedings is strictly prohibited. The public may not bring cell phones, cameras, recording devices, or other electronic devices (such as MP3 players).  You will be required to return it to your car. 

  • The Court may grant permission to bring cameras in for ceremonial proceedings or court events. Contact the local clerk’s office for more information.  Cameras are allowed at naturalization proceedings.

Parking

Jury and Public parking are available at:

  1. Lot 4, 424 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City, KS 66101.  Parking lot can be accessed from State Ave and Minnesota Ave.  
  2. Former Merc Co-op, 525 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City, KS 66101.

Handicap/accessible parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building on the north side (Nebraska Street entrance – indicated in Turquoise below). The parking lot on the corner of 5th and State Ave., east of the building, is private parking and you may be towed.
