ADR Experience
Experience: Prior to moving to Chicago, Illinios in 1994, I participated in mediations in which I was a mediator and counsel for parties and arbitrations as arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. Once in Chicago, I arbitrated cases for AAA.  As counsel for parties, I participated in excess of 200 mediations and what in Cook County Circuit Court calls "Pre-trials" where a third party judge conducts what is in effect a mediation between the parties. In the past 5 years, I have participated in at least eight mediations.  In addition, a number of the mediations over the last 20 plus years have been in MDLs and state coordinated or consolidated proceedings in state and federal courts.

Course Info: I have in the more distant past received training from the American Arbitration Association. In preparation for this application I attended and successfully completed the Mediation Skills Training Course offered by Northwestern University from February 5-21, 2026 consisting of forty (40) hours of training and CLE/CME credit, including simulations supervised by certified mediators from the Center for Dispute Resolution and ACR Illinois.

Legal Experience
Experience: I have practiced and tried in excess of forty (40) cases to verdict in the areas of personal injury, medical negligence, pharmceutical, antitrust and other complex litigation in Kansas, Illinois and throughout the country in state and federal courts, argued appellate cases in the Supreme Courts of Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and state appellate courts in Florida and Kentucky. I have been lead or co-lead counsel in MDL litigation, and in Illinois state consolidated.coordinated cases.  In the past five (5) years I have been lead or co-counsel in Kansas and Illinois state and federal proceedings, often involving complex and multi-party mediations.  I am admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States, the Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals, US District Courts in Illinois, Kansas, Colorado, the NDCA, NDTEX, and I have been admitted to numerous state and US District Courts, PHV.  I have taught as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Washburn University School of Law.

Fee Structure
Rate: My fee structure is based on an hourly rate ranging from $400-$500 per hour depending on the number of parties involved, together with travel time, if more than one hour from Olathe, Kansas, and expenses incurred.  These fees and expenses will be divided between the parties or as the parties' may agree.
